Purple Fluorite Octahedron Crystal Gemstone Pendant
I attached a silver wire spiral bail to a raw deep purple fluorite mirrored pyramid crystal octahedron, and added a 24 inch silver chain. The cube was cut from a larger fluorite crystal specimen. This crystal is from Cave-In-Rock, Illinois. It has tiny flecks of gold pyrite inclusions.
Fluorite has been the state mineral of Illinois since 1965. At that time, Illinois was the largest producer of fluorite in the United States; however, the last Illinois mine closed in 1995.
The mirrored pyramid octahedron formation is common in fluorite crystals, but purple Illinois specimens are now more rare. Fluorite represents growth and adventure, and is helpful in dealing with high stress situations. It increases concentration, helps with decision making, and is said to absorb and neutralize negative vibrations. The calm and serene energy of fluorite can bring inner peace and establish emotional balance.
Pyrite was used by ancient Mayans and Aztecs as a scrying stone. It was considered a powerful stone and was often used in divination and healing rituals. Pyrite is believed to attract good fortune and prosperity. Because it forms cubes and other polygons, believers in sacred geometry consider it of cosmic significance as well.
