Netsuke Cat Carved Bead with Blue Cat's Eye Marble Pendant Necklace

  • $ 2750

I combined a carved natural bone Netsuke style cat bead with a mini blue cat's eye marble. This comes with a 24 inch silver filled chain.

Netsuke are small carved sculptures, almost like buttons, that were invented in Japan in the 17th century. They were used as a fastener that secured the cord on the sash of a kimono, to hold a box filled with everyday items such as money, tobacco, etc. The word Netsuke is derived from the two Japanese characters "ne+tsuke" which means "root" and "to attach".

Cats represent independence, curiosity, mystery, and sensuality. In Ancient Egypt cats were worshiped as gods, and the Goddess Bast takes the form of a cat. There is magic and beauty in your life if you share it with a cat.

The color blue is associated with the element of water. The spiritual significance of water is many dimensional, like the sea itself. The sea represents ebb and flow, waves and calm, a constant balance of new beginnings and life's lessons.
