About Me

MaryAnn Kay Designs - Magical Items for Everyday Life

I love doing altered art pieces. I like the idea of being able to recycle vintage items and turn them into something entirely different. I find this style of design unusual and intriguing. I am always looking for old or interesting things to add to my inventory that can be made into jewelry or personal items.

I spend many hours searching for items on the internet, hunting through local secondhand stores, and wandering around antique shows. Sometimes I will buy something that catches my eye, but I will have no idea what I want to do with it at the time. Then, maybe as much as a year later, I will remember that I have that neat thing and have thought of a design that I create using it.

I also enjoy working with natural gemstones and crystals, especially raw and rough crystals. I have been strongly attracted to rocks and stones since I was a little girl. I search through them to find individual pieces that I feel are the right ones that will work for wire wrapping, setting, and incorporating into jewelry and accessory designs.

Some of my creations are very simply done, and others are quite complex. I want to offer a wide variety of things in different price ranges so that hopefully there is something in my store for everyone. For example, the vintage marble pendants that I do are simplistic, but I find them so nostalgic, that I think they appeal to many people.

I have been creating bullet jewelry since 2009 and have designed over a hundred different styles and types. I use recycled bullet shell casings, metal filigrees, Swarovski crystals, natural gemstones, vintage glass, and other items. All of the bullet casings I use are recycled so please allow for variations and small imperfections.

I started this Beautiful Bullets jewelry line in 2010 as a peace project, and I continue to donate part of the sale to different charities. I have sent donations to the Peace Corps, the Patriot Guard Riders, the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, the Sandy Hook School Support Fund, and the USO. Thanks to everyone who has purchased one of these designs and made that possible.

I do offer custom designs. Feel free to contact me with any questions, and I will work with you to get the custom creation that you want. If you see a sold item and would like to purchase one like it, please let me know and I will try to make a similar design for you. Please read my Policies page for more information.
