Many samples of fluorite glow under ultraviolet light. Those from the Rogerley Mine in Durham, England fluoresce a bright blue. They are also a color changing fluorite, going from an emerald green to a cobalt blue, depending on the light source, be it artificial or sunlight.
The Rogerley Mine is located in the historic Weardale mining District of Northern England. First discovered by Lindsay Greenbank and Mike Sutcliffe in the early 1970's, it is to date, the only mine in all of Britain to be worked on a commercial scale solely for the recovery of crystallized mineral specimens.
Fluorite helps in aligning all the chakra, and it is a powerful healing stone. It enhances spiritual energy work, focuses the will and balances the psyche. It increases concentration and helps with decision making. Fluorite is said to absorb and neutralize negative vibrations. It is known as the "Genius Stone". Green Fluorite represents growth and adventure. It is helpful in dealing with high stress situations, and is also a good grounding stone.
