Pink Optical Calcite Crystal Silver Bullet Jewelry Pendant Necklace

  • $ 3000

I combined a natural pale pink optical calcite Iceland Spar with a recycled 380 caliber silver bullet shell casing. I wrapped the casing with silver and copper square wire and added a 24 inch silver plated rope chain. Like many Iceland spar specimens, this one has rainbow prisms. Manganoan calcite is a variety of calcite rich in manganese, which gives the mineral a pink color. Calcite is a soft mineral and a certain amount of care should be taken when wearing it. The calcite has natural inclusions and glows orange under UV light.

Iceland spar is the name often used for optical calcite because that is where the crystal was originally discovered. The supply from Iceland has been mostly depleted, due to the use of the calcite in scientific instruments in the 19th and 20th centuries, and also for its use in gun sights during World War II. Optical calcite is also found in other places such as the United States and South America, but Mexico and China is where much of it comes from now.

Iceland spar is clear variety of calcite originally found in Iceland. It was often used in experiments involving light polarization, as it is well known for its double refraction qualities. It easily divides into rhomboid shapes. Some historians have speculated that it is the original sunstone mentioned in medieval texts (solarsteinn), that Vikings used to tell the direction of the sun on overcast days.

Optical calcite is a good cleansing stone and can amplify environmental energy. It is also restorative and helps to accelerate psychic development and spiritual growth. Iceland spar can help shift bad emotions such as fear and sorrow into positive ones. It clears away dark energy and brings optimism and feelings of lightness and joy. It provides insight in negative situations and aids in clarification during confusing emotional states.

An original Beautiful Bullets design. I have been creating bullet jewelry since 2009 and have designed over a hundred different styles and types. I use recycled bullet shell casings, metal filigrees, Swarovski crystals, natural gemstones and vintage glass. All of the bullet casings I use are recycled so please allow for variations and small imperfections.

I started my bullet jewelry line as a peace project, and I continue to donate part of the sale to different charities. I have sent donations to the Peace Corps, the Patriot Guard Riders, the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, the Sandy Hook School Support Fund, and the USO. Thanks to everyone who has purchased one of these designs and made that possible.
